Description
Long cylindrical pod with seeds. It can be eaten in it’s entirety fried, stewed, sautéed or roasted. It’s used culinarily in many ways, and has a unique nutty flavor and gelatinous texture when stewed.
Storage tips
Store in refrigerator with humidity. If kept dry it will store a little over a week. You can also freeze okra without blanching.
Culinary tips
- Pickle if you’ve had enough. Our summers are long in Texas and so is OKRA season.
- Stir fry or cook in an oven until dry if you don’t enjoy it’s extreme sliminess.
- Great in stews and curries.
