Description

Dense and crisp head of lettuce. Romaine has a bit stronger flavor than a butter, leaf, stem, latin or iceberg lettuce.

Storage tips

Because of it’s density, romaine lettuce has a shelf life of between 10-13 days. It can be stored dry within a plastic bag in the crisper of your refrigerator. One nice tip is to chop it immediately and store it within a covered mason jar. That will lengthen it’s shelf life.

Culinary tips
  • This is a very crisp lettuce, and is typically used for the Caesar Salad. It holds up well to a thick, rich dressing, however, its uses are very diverse.
  • This lettuce is wonderful grilled, roasted or added to soups as it can sustain high temperatures.
  • Pairs well with oils, vinegars, strong cheeses and fruit.
